Bright Star

I finally took a break from the deadline last week to see Bright Star! What a gorgeous movie. I may have to see it again (and I know I need some new Regency gowns...)

I long to believe in immortality. . . . If I am destined to be happy with you here--how short is the longest life. I wish to believe in immortality--I wish to live with you forever.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever; Its loveliness increases; it will never Pass into nothingness; but still will keep A bower quiet for us, and a sleep Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for religion - I have shuddered at it. I shudder no more - I could be martyred for my religion - Love is my religion - I could die for that.

I have two luxuries to brood over in my walks, your loveliness and the hour of my death. O that I could have possession of them both in the same minute.

  1. I absolutely adored this movie and I hate Jane Campion's films. I thought it was almost perfect. Can't wait for it come out on DVD. It's going on my shelf next to the Amanda Root/Ciaran Hinds Persuasian and the Toby Stephens Jane Eyre.

Lovely. The pictures match the text perfectly. Have heard good things about this movie and can't wait to see it.
Best of luck with the release of Winter Queen.
