Elizabethan Week, Day One: Hottie Tudor Monday

To celebrate the release of my first Elizabethan Mystery this week, Murder at Hatfield House, we are going to look at some fun Tudor history this week!  And we're starting out with something very fun indeed.  I used to do a feature here called Hottie Monday, so I thought we could take a look at some of the hotties of the Tudor age, and see which one we like best....

First up: the big daddy of them all, Henry VIII!

The original....

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Henry as hipster?)

Ray Winstone (Henry as Cockney thug?)

Keith Mitchell

Charles Laughton (Henry as Ren faire turkey leg eater?)

Richard Burton

Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester!

 Jeremy Irons

 Joseph Fiennes

 Tom Hardy

 Robert Hardy

The Original

And his stepson, Robert Deveruex, Earl of Essex!

 Hugh Dancy

 Robin Ellis (aka Poldark)

Erroll Flynn

The Original

Hans Matheson

Walter Raleigh...

 Clive Owen

 Vincent Price (!!!)

The original...

And a couple of one-offs....

Kevin McKidd as the Duke of Norfolk

Henry Cavill as Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk (my personal favorite!)

So, time to vote!  Which is your favorite of the Tudor hotties???

The schedule for the rest of the week:
Tuesday: favorite film Elizabeths
Wednesday: Tudor castles
Thursday: a closer look at historical secondary characters
Friday: fun research facts I've uncovered
Saturday: Heroine of the Weekend

Hottie Monday

What better way to celebrate a holiday weekend than the return of Hottie Monday??  This week's Hottie--Johnny Flynn, English indie musician and actor (he is revisiting his award-winning Viola in Mark Rylance's all-male Twelfth Night, which I wish I could see...)

Hottie Monday

So I haven't yet seen the movie Thor (this was a crazy busy weekend, and I usually tend to avoid the really loud summer movies), but obviously I am super-tempted.....

I also read that Tom Hiddleston (who I loved in Cranford and Wallander) plays a villain, another reason to maybe see it.

Anyone seen this movie yet? Any opinions?

Hottie Monday

Have a bit of a rushed Monday going on today, but let's enjoy a little Colin Firth to get the week started...

Hottie Monday, Oscars Edtion

I am finally digging out from under the weekend's computer crisis, yay! And in honor of this weekend's Oscars ceremony, our Hottie Monday is a few nominees. Enjoy! (And who are you cheering for to win?)

Hottie Monday (Valentine's Day Edition)

Today's Hottie--Matthew McFadyen, because I was watching Any Human Heart on Masterpiece last night....

What are your plans for Valentine's Day???

Hottie Monday

Today's Hottie Monday is a little different, born out of a heated debate at a recent girls' night out with mojitos and guacamole--who are the actors you find attractive that no one else (or few people you know) does? Here are a few of mine, though I'm sure I'm forgetting some. What do you think? Who are yours???

Jemaine and Bret from Flight of the Conchords (because funny is sexy!)

David Tennant

James McAvoy (I was surprised he fell under this category--all I can say is some people must not have seen his shirtless scene in Macbeth)

Stephen Dillane (if you haven't seen John Adams or Firelight go see them immediately! I'll wait...)

Benedict Cumberbatch (an odd one--he can seem like the most weaselly man alive in Starter for Ten or Small Island, but intense in stuff like The Last Enemy and that one Miss Marple mystery. Can't wait until they show the new BBC Sherlock Holmes here)

Hottie Monday

This Monday--more footballer hottieness! Are there ever footballers as heroes in romances?? I can't remember any...

Hottie Monday

It's the finals of Dancing With the Stars tonight, yay! I confess it took me longer to get into this season than usual. The gap between the good dancers and the, well, not so good was so wide it didn't seem quite fair, and I still don't like Brooke and her wooden questions and ugly dresses. But now the 3 finalists are SO good I don't know who to cheer for the most (though I'm leaning toward Evan, thanks to that rockin' paso doble last week!). Let's enjoy some Dancing hotness this Monday...

Hottie Monday

For Hottie Monday today, something a little different! With the moving of RWA's conference in July to Disney World (and yay to RWA for making such a complicated change so quickly! Bravo!), I am very excited. I LOVE Disney movies. So we have Disney Hottie Couples. (I know Beauty and the Beast is there twice, but it's my favorite. I mean, how can you not love a man with a library like that??)
