Two days until Halloween!
Just two more days until Halloween!!! This is now officially "Halloween weekend," since there are parties and other spooky things going on for the next three nights. This really is my favorite holiday, as it combines so many things I love--like dressing up and candy.
Mmmm--candy. So, yesterday I asked which was better, mojito or cosmos (I had just gone to a "mojito special" night with some friends, and thought they were pretty yummy. But not quite good enough to permanently replace those old standbys Cosmos and Chocolatinis). Now, which Halloween candy is the best? I like those tiny little Almond Joys and baby Heath bars, but there are things to be said for KitKats and Snickers.
And yes, I will be increasing those yoga classes from three times a week to four. And maybe taking up jogging. :) In the meantime, I'm posting a pic of Halloween in the second grade. I was a hula dancer, but I remember it rained so hard and was so freezing cold that night that I had to wear a coat over my costume and get my dad to drive my friends and me door to door to collect our loot.

Twix might be the best. Or snickers. No, wait -- peanut m&ms are the best!

My favorite candy are the Reese's pb cups, mostly 'cause I just love peanut butter. But I also adore Snickers. Not that I eat any--I am desperately trying to lose JUST A FEW DARN POUNDS, so no chocolate for me this year. Okay, maybe one. But that's it.
Mmmm--Reese's. :) Those are good, too. I am also trying to lose a last few pounds (the same 5 that have been plaguing me since college), and this time of year is just a minefield of horrible temptation. Especially when I have a kind of lousy day, as I did a couple days ago, and almost ate half a bag of Hershey's Nuggets with toffee and almonds. Mmm-toffee.
I used to love the homemade popcorn balls you'd get from neighbors - some with peanuts, some with colored popcorn (do you remember colored popcorn?)
My favorite candy? Snickers, or just about anything with chocolate and peanuts. Yum.
It's sad, though, that we can't trust people to make treats and pass them out. Kids today have to settle for prepackaged stuff. No more candied apples or homemade cookies. That's what I miss.
Hmm... Even back when I was a kid, my parents didn't let us eat homemade stuff, or anything like that, for fear of tampering (or whatever). Except one year. Some nuns gave us homemade cookies, and I guess my mom figured that though random neighbors might poison us, nuns wouldn't. :-)

LOL, Cara! I was never allowed to eat homemade treats, either (unless they were from my grandmother--strangely enough, my mom trusted her own mother not to put razor blades in the pumpkin brownies). But I loved it when we would make caramel apples and popcorn balls at home. Haven't one of those in ages.
